Part 1: Travels to Athens, Greece

Alex and I recently had the opportunity to travel to Athens with Training Leaders International, an organization that exists to train pastors and church leaders in foreign countries where proper training is not as easily accessible.  We have been planning this trip for several months now, and with the generous support of our church, family, and friends we were able to be a part of a team that made the 11 hour flight over in the beginning of June.

It was truly amazing to walk the marbled streets of the city and see so many ancient and historical sights. This road pictured below was Dionysius Areopagite Way,  it led to the Acropolis.

The Parthenon - temple to the Greek goddess Athena built around 438 BC

This is me doing my best to climb up the slippery marble of Areopagus (Mars Hill) where the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers brought Paul in Acts 17:19.
"And they took him and brought him to the Areopagus, saying, “May we know what this new teaching is that you are presenting?"

This is one part of the breathtaking view from Mars Hill which overlooks the city.

And when you turn to the right you see the view of the magnificently constructed Parthenon.
"So Paul, standing in the midst of the Areopagus, said: “Men of Athens, I perceive that in every way you are very religious...

The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.
“‘In him we live and move and have our being;"
Acts 17:22-28

This is a photo of Alex's class the first night we met with them for dinner. We so enjoyed getting to know them and hearing their stories. Our God is truly God of the Nations!
